  • “We Are Children of The Light”

    New Blog Picture
    Praise the Lord Beloved!!! 😀

    Happy Monday to Everyone.

I like gardening. I like to look out and see the colorful leaves that bud, and I enjoy watching the plants develop to maturity. I thought about making a little garden in our backyard. But, because it has a park-like setting its mostly shade and not suitable for plants that need full sun. So, it would be useless to buy the seeds plow the soil to plant. It would not be a problem caring for and cultivating my garden, but the plants wouldn’t be happy in my back yard. My care and attention wouldn’t be enough. You see, they would need sunlight, which I cannot provide. I thought about creating an alternative to generate something for the lack of light that would bring the attention the plants would need.  But, for some plants it doesn’t work that way. Some plants need what they need. And so, do people.

Beloved, although we can survive for a while in less-than-ideal conditions, we can’t thrive. You see, in addition to our basic physical needs, we also have spiritual needs that can’t be met by any substitute.

The scripture says that believers are children of light. Psalm 89:15 (NLT) says: “Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.” This means that we need to live in the full light of God’s presence to thrive. Ephesians 5:11 (NLT) says: “Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.”

Beloved, if we try to live in darkness, we’ll produce nothing but “fruitless deeds”. But if we’re living in the light of Jesus, the Light of the world, we will produce the fruit of His light, which is good, faithful, and true.
Please pray with me this morning’s prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for redeeming me and giving me new life. Help me to continue to live as a child of the Light.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name I pray, Amen.

Have a Blessed week everyone!!! 😀

  • “It’s Time to Plant”

    Bishop Houstons weekend word picture

Praise the Lord Beloved!!! Another weekend has arrived on our doorstep.
    Hallelujah!!!! 😀

One of the scriptures I read this morning came from 1 Peter 1:23 and it says: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”

You know, speaking for myself and the worldly life I lived in the past, allows me to speak the Word of God without any conviction. You see, I’m a living proof a walking testimony when I say, you won’t really get excited about the Word of God until you realize that it’s more than just a collection of divinely inspired promises. It’s a living force that literally carries within it, the power to make those promises to become a reality in your life.

Now the question that stands at hand is: Is it tough for you to believe such a thing is possible? Well if you said yes, then I say to you Beloved, “IT SHOULDN’T BE.” You see, you see it happen in the natural world all the time.

Allow me to give you a quick example – If I were to put a watermelon seed in your hand and tell you that within that tiny, dry seed lies the power to produce a stalk thousands of times bigger than the seed, to produce leaves and roots and a round or oval shaped, green watermelon, you wouldn’t have any trouble believing that, would you? That’s because, you know from experience that even though that little seed doesn’t look like a watermelon factory, but, somehow, given the right environment, it will become one.

Beloved, Jesus says the Word of God works by that same principle. There’s miraculous power within it. It’s a seed that, once planted by faith in a human heart (mind and emotions), will produce more blessings than you can imagine. 😀

Beloved, once you grasp that, you’ll get extremely excited about the Word of God. That’s what happened to me. 😀

Over 20 years ago, I caught a glimpse of what that Word could do. I caught a glimpse of the power within it. Before long, I had a Bible in every room of my house, a Bible in my car, and a tape player or a Christian television program and gospel music playing nearly all the time.

I spent every possible moment in the Word of God because I wanted the power of that Word inside me more than I wanted anything else in the world. I knew it would blow the limits off my life. I’m speaking of limits that had held me back and kept me down for years. I knew that when I read it, I wasn’t just reading, I was planting seeds. Seeds of prosperity, seeds of health, seeds of protection and seeds of victory for every area of my life.

Beloved, this weekend, don’t treat the Word of God like a book. It’s not!!! It’s a spiritual seed that has the supernatural power within it to produce the harvest of a lifetime. This weekend, get excited about it and start planting now!!!! 😀

Have a blessed Weekend Everyone!!! 😀

  • “REAL”

Beloved, those around us who need the gospel, who need Jesus, are looking for believable people who can point them to our perfect Savior. And that means we must be real.

Philippians 3:17 says: Join together in following my example.

Several days ago, a well-known celebrity pastor who is a follower of CHOF Ministry sent me an e-mail right after a family tragedy. After he told me about his tragedy I realized that even though he’s a celebrity pastor, he was a real person with real crisis also.

Beloved, I’ve looked at pictures, read the post of many good men and women who pen their articles on social media. I see cancer post and wayward children post, and unfulfilled dreams articles and many other kinds of loss.

Beloved, celebrities, whether they’re a celebrity pastor, gospel singer, actor, actress, artist, or producer, They’re definitely just regular, real people writing and singing about a real God who understands our real problems.

You know, if there was a “Keeping It Real Hall of Fame” the Apostle Paul would unquestionably get my vote to be inducted. He had physical problems. He had legal issues. He had interpersonal relationship struggles to deal with. And in all of that chaotic reality, he still took the time to set an example for us.

In Philippians 3:17, Paul said, “Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.”

Dear Heavenly Father, You are perfection. Yet, You welcome us who are damaged people to come to You for salvation. You sent Your Immaculate Son to earth to die for us.

Lord God, help us to be real and genuine as we seek to point people to You.In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen and Amen.

  • “Unembarrassed Loyalty”

    New Morning blog Picture
Praise the Lord Beloved!!! Happy Monday to you!!! 😀

What a great day to be alive and present before the Lord one more day.

    This morning the Spirit of the Lord led me to Psalms 34:1-4. But it was verse 3 that captured my attention. It says: “Join me in spreading the news;
together let’s get the word out” (Message Bible).  As I meditated on that verse this morning I couldn’t help but think about all the people that stand out in my mind that has exemplified their embarrassed loyalty toward me and many others including Jesus Christ. If you know that these people exist in your life-KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!! GOD IS ON HIS WAY BACK TO RESCUE AND REMOVE YOU FROM THE UNCOMFORTABLE DESIGN OF COUNTERFEIT, INSINCERE, DECEPTIVE AND FICTICIOUS LOYALTY.
AND AS GOD REVEALS THEM TO YOU – THEY ALREADY KNOW WHO THEY ARE. 😀

You know, unembarrassed loyalty is so awesome!!! As the NBA Playoffs are coming into the picture, March Madness has arrived, the baseball season is just around the corner and so is the NFL draft. Sports fans around the world is gearing up to show and share their love, loyalty and sing praises to their desired team(s). They will be wearing logos, posting notes on Facebook and other social media sites about their beloved team(s), or talking about them with friends or co-workers. The true fans are unembarrassed when it comes to their team(s), they leave no doubt where their loyalty stands. I love my Cleveland Indians, Dallas Cowboys (NFC), (Cleveland Browns (AFC)), Cleveland CAVS (Eastern conf.) and San Antonio Spurs (Western conf.) I wear my ball caps and shirts, to show my unembarrassed loyalty to them WIN, LOSE OR DRAW!!! If you hold a conversation long enough with me it will indicate that I’m right there with those who express their unembarrassed loyalty to their chosen team(s).

Beloved, I created the illustration above to illustrate that just like our unembarrassed loyalty to our favorite sports teams our truest and greatest loyalty must be to our Lord.

Beloved, I think of such unembarrassed loyalty when I read Psalm 34, where David draws our attention to Someone enormously more vital than anything else on earth. In Verse 1 David says: “I bless God every chance I get…” (Message Bible). Beloved, we shouldn’t wonder or be amazed about the cause, or the gaps in our lives when we live as if God is not our source of truth, light, and salvation. Verse 1 finishes with: “my lungs expand His praise” …

Beloved, just think about how many times we praise things of this world more than we praise Him. David says in verse 2, “I live and breathe God’…. And it’s sad, because we understand that we boast about our own small successes more than what Jesus has done for us.

Beloved, I might not be your favorite, friend, brother, cousin, parent, grandparent or minister, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not wrong to enjoy our teams, our interests, and our accomplishments. But our highest praise goes to our Lord.  David says in verse 3: “Join me in spreading the news; together let’s get the word out (Message Bible).

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to have Your praise on my lips and to boast in You. Help me to keep my focus on You because I’m unembarrassed to show and share my loyalty to You.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name I Pray,
    Amen and Amen!!!

Have a blessed Monday Everyone!!! 😀

  • “Bishop Houston’s Weekend Word”

    Bishop Houstons weekend word picture
Praise the Lord Beloved!!! Another weekend is here!!! 😀
Let us all rejoice and say, “WE MADE IT!!!” 😀

Beloved, we need rock-hard, cast-iron competitors for the faith!!! There’s so many that still need deliverance. Men and Women of God it’s time to get on the battlefield for our Lord. It’s time to apply your Godly wisdom and battle against the perils of carnal wisdom.

Beloved, there are way too many that strive (go out of there way) to be loved and accepted by the world. We need to let the people know that as a Christian their primary goal should be to please the Lord regardless of what the world thinks of them. Now, let me be clear here, there’s nothing wrong with meeting the carnal minded people of the world on common ground, but we must not seek to accommodate or blend in with that which is not a Christian point of view.

Beloved, this weekend let’s help the people take back what the enemy has stolen from them.

    Have a blessed weekend Everyone!!!

  • “Bless Them and Pray for Them”

New Morning blog PicturePraise the Lord Beloved. Happy Monday to you. 😀

Beloved, this morning you’ll find that Matthew 5:44 says “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
Beloved, if you’re going to pursue a larger church/ministry, if you’re going to be a great businessperson, if you’re a great coach, a great parent, a great pastor/leader, Beloved, you have to comprehend that not everyone is going to cheer you on. I’d love to tell you that your family members, friends and co-workers will celebrate you, but that’s not necessarily the case. You see, some people simply can’t handle your success. As you grow and increase, as God pours out His favor on you, someone will get jealous. Someone will start finding fault. Don’t be surprised if a relative try to belittle, discredit or re-direct you.
Beloved, you can’t focus on making everyone around you happy or you’ll start changing and lose sight of what God has placed in your heart.
Remember, your destiny is too great to be distracted by people who are never going to affirm you. But, don’t take it personally. It’s not about you. It’s their problem. Shake it off, run your race, and be great anyway.
Beloved, having greatness in the midst of criticism or disapproval, begins with forgiveness. 😀 Though it may be hard “don’t hold a grudge”. Bless those who curse you; pray for those who spitefully use you. As you keep doing what is right, God will honor you. He’ll promote you, and you’ll be great in the midst of criticism!!!
Have a blessed Monday and week Everyone!!! 😀

Black history Month Weekend wordLet’s praise the Lord Everyone!!! His grace and mercy has anointed our path to see another weekend.

This morning my Bible reading took me to Psalm 40:5. After reading that verse I shouted and praised God. You see, I know what He has done for me in my life. I know the modifications He has reconstructed in my life and there has been numerous spiritual surgeries also. There has been so many I cannot count or remember them all. And I can’t wait to see what else He will provide next.

Beloved, God has wonderful things prepared for you also. Not just for today or this weekend but for your future!!! Even though this weekend you might be facing some circumstances that seem discriminating, or things aren’t going the way you planned, God’s good plan remains.
