“Following Jesus – Regardless!!!”

9 18 2019 Matthew 19 16 through 29
Praise the Lord Believers in the Christian faith.

Beloved, no mentally stable person would eagerly follow someone to jump off a mountain with them or for them because it goes against the normal nature of self-protection. And if we do select a path of martyrdom, there’s usually a complex insight we pursue to accomplish. It could be some profit we hope to enjoy in the end, a superlative we think is more vital than our own life, or a way to help other people.

In our scripture this morning a rich young leader was challenged to give up what he considered valuable to him and follow the Lord, he was overwhelmed because he felt the worth was too high. From his viewpoint, such action was comparable to following Jesus off a mountain. He didn’t have spiritual insight to see what Jesus was promising him in exchange “treasure in heaven”. He was reluctant to sacrifice his earthly safety, luxury, and position in order to obtain eternal benefits.

But in contrast, Jesus’ disciples had left everything!!! They left families, jobs, financial security, and positions in society, to pursue Christ because they considered their Messiah more valuable. As they watched the rich young man walk away, Jesus assured them that their sacrifice for righteousness’ sake wouldn’t be unnoticed. That’s because one day they would sit on 12 sovereign seats, arbitrating the 12 tribes of Israel in Christ’s magnificent empire.

Beloved, we serve a truly kind and loving Savior who not only saves worthless sinners like us but also promises His followers rewards. Some of these profits are obtainable now in the form of Christ’s harmony and happiness satisfying our hearts, and the sweet communion of our faith community. But in eternity, He’ll give us much more than we have ever forfeited to Him. 😀

CHOF Ministry’s Mid-Week Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for reaching down and rescuing me a “worthless sinner” and removing me from harm and danger and placing me in an area so that I am able to have a clear insight. I have a faith so strong that I look forward to serving you regardless.
In Jesus’ Name, I Pray Amen.

Beloved, life is very short. It comes and goes like an unannounced gust of wind. None of us know the hour or day when that gust of wind will be permitted to enter our room and blow out our earthly light. So today, reach out and touch someone and tell them you love them, BECAUSE TELLING THEM LATER JUST MIGHT BE TOO LATE. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Have a “Wonderful” Wednesday.
