“Need a Boost?”
If you’ve ever lived in an area where frigid cold weather occurs, you know there’re times you need to “jump start” your car. Since moving to the Midwest I’ve experience this unpleasant situation a time or two. The cold drains the battery and occasionally it needs that additional boost from a jump start or battery charger to get you going on your way.Beloved, what about our Godly lives? As Christians, we too need a “boost” every now and then. It’s easy to become satisfied “content” in our Christian lives and duties. Unless we’re absorbed in His Word daily, chances are we too, are in need of a recharge. I know when I have read or studied God’s Word, I come away refreshed and resuscitated. It puts me back on track and helps me focus on what His will is for me. I know in my heart I want eternal life with Him, but sometimes I need a reminder to focus, study, and live His Word.Beloved, the Bible isn’t like a favorite book to be put on a bookshelf only brought out on occasions. It should be front and center in our lives every day.Have a Blessed Tuesday. 😀 -
“Remembering The Weak”

You know every chance I get I witness in the malls, at Walmart, grocery stores Dollar stores you name it and have a little time “it’s all about the wonderful name of Jesus.” As a Believer in Christ it can be both physically and mentally taxing. Some say that working in a Christian ministry is hard because the constant mental spiritual routine is tedious. But it’s never too monotonous to a person who delights in teaching and inspiring others with informative biblical principles. Every day is a new day filled with challenges. Being a minister, mental durability and competence isn’t requested it’s required, it’s essential and crucial, that’s because being a minister I come into contact daily with unbelievers, doubters, and new comers to the faith. There’s never a time they don’t make requests or stubbornly raise questions. The thought that I’m a Christian never leaves my mind when I’m doing what God called me to do. Many say I look real stern, at times that may be my outer persona, but most of the time it’s because I’m moved by everyone’s situation(s) I come into contact, especially the people that has a lack of education and guidance. You see, some don’t know how to read or write, and because of their illiteracy they’re taken advantage of by others. Some grew up without a parent and seek out a need to belong, so they get involved in gangs.
In Matthew 5:7 it says: “Always try to remember to be merciful and you shall be blessed and also receive mercy.” Beloved, mercy isn’t only for the righteous it’s especially needed by us sinners.
Have a blessed Week Everyone.

“A Tree Planted By The River – This Too Shall Pass”

Good Morning Beloved Happy Monday to you.You know Beloved, there are many people that will try to do things that they’re not skilled or trained in because it looks good. But the evidence that they’re not called shows in range of skill or ability.Eventually, they become discouraged when it becomes a struggle to do those things. That’s because it’s not what they’re called to do. Unfortunately, they’ll eventually become dispirited. Then, they’ll move beyond discouragement to being critical and mount up attacks on the people and the position that are called or elevated. That’s because the dispirited person hasn’t discovered what they’ve been called to be or do.Beloved, if you’re over a church, ministry, school, job, or anything that’s transformative by nature, don’t allow your system to be damaged or destroyed by a discouraged or wounded spirit. Stand strong like the tree planted by the river and this too shall pass.Have a blessed week Everyone. -
“God Knows What’s Best”

You know after being granted salvation, I wanted to preach and teach in my own church (the physical building). I started out paying for my clergy credentials. While many laughed at me and made fun of my initial clergy credentials, they qualified me to be a State approved minister. I wanted more!!! I wanted to be known as the “Great Bishop, Dr.” of my own Christian edifice. So the hostile sarcasm of family members and some so called friends about my ministry credentials became my strength and stepping stones to pursue my degrees. So, I decided to take classes to get my B.A. in Christian Ministries which led me to gain my M.Div… So, as I was studying to get my Masters, I was also getting knowledge and experience in podcasting, and web design. One day while talking to a fellow clergy-man who’s also a family member set a vision in front of me about a social media ministry. Now, this wasn’t what I wanted to do. I had very little computer knowledge or online skills plus it was a few months before I was to go look at a building to establish a physical church. But, little did I know God had other plans laid out for me. I ended up not going to look at the building but instead went into studying to gain more knowledge on public speaking, podcasting, producing, blogging, videography, and web design. Over 10 years later, I’m known humbly as Bishop, Houston to some and Unka Burnie to others. I now have an online ministry that delivers Christian – spiritual podcast, teachings, sermons, devotions, inspirations, video slideshow presentations, music and more.Looking back, I could’ve stubbornly stuck with my original plans. Had I followed through, my life at this present time would be very different. I realized the one thing I really wanted to happen, was the best thing that never happened.Beloved, God knows what’s best for us, but we need to have faith and the humility to follow His will as He steers and guides our paths.Have a blessed week Everyone. 😀 -
Monday Morning Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You’re our God. You instruct and guide us, and our trust remains in you even when many needs pull at our hearts and try to draw us into their vortex. Pas I pray please protect us. May Your divine hand oversee us so that we remain aware of the calling we receive from You and always have a light shining into our lives to show us how to serve You.
Father God let your power work wherever hearts respond to You on this earth, wherever the strength of Jesus Christ is revealed, so that people acknowledge His deeds to Your honor. Be with the lowliest and least noticed of Your children. Keep them in Your hands and enable them to be fellow workers who persevere courageously and confidently until the time when You reveal Yourself to all peoples on earth.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name I Pray- Amen and Amen.
Have a blessed Monday Everyone. 😀

“Stay Focused On Your Calling”
Praise the Lord Beloved!!! Happy Monday to you all.I attended a church program on yesterday, and I left there shaking my head in dismay. I’m seeing more and more men and women in the pulpit with the “it’s all about me, look at me, how did I sound, empty vessel messages. Beloved, THE CHURCH BELONGS TO JESUS!!!It’s not owned by its denomination, its benefactors, its members nor its affiliates, its staff or its lead pastor. Jesus said He would build His church – and He’s not about to give up that ownership to us or our ideas. You know as a preacher, this is a lesson I need to repeat to myself of repeatedly. I didn’t won’t to touch this issue this morning. I wrestled with it and it was also like fire shut up in my bones. So, encouraged by the Spirit of the Lord and my lovely better half I’ve decided to share it with you through my blog.Beloved, many spiritual leaders have flat ignored why the church exists!!! OR – they have been misinformed. This morning, I have a news flash church/ministry leaders, pastors, preachers ect… The church doesn’t exist to give us an audience for our ideas, projects or egos. It exists to fulfill Christ’s purposes. Our role as church/ministry leaders, pastors, preachers ect.., is to equip the church/ministry members and its affiliates to ratify those purposes, both inside and outside the church/ministry walls. My Beloved cleric brothers and sisters (members of the clergy) our churches/ministries the church exists to make Jesus known, *NOT TO MAKE PASTORS FAMOUS!!!Yet, “WE” (I’m not above this approach either) keep making the same mistakes over and over again. “WE” (try to) take control because we feel without our strong hand on the wheel (we think) our church/ministry will fall to pieces. The budget won’t be met. The membership won’t grow. The five or ten-year vision won’t be realized. HELLO SOMEBODY!!!!! I know some of you out there know just what I’m talking about!!! 😀As church/ministry leaders, pastors, preachers ect.., we must know our roll. I’m speaking to churches and ministries of every size and type. From the captivating founding pastor of the high-energy, non-denominational megachurch, to the long-term, traditional male-controlled pastor to the centuries-old religious congregational pastor.Sure, many of us that are called according to God’s purpose are visionaries. We have big ideas. Impressive plans. Electrifying opportunities. And it’s tempting to use the resources at our disposal – namely the people, building and finances of the church/ministry we pastor to bring those endeavors to fruition. It’s not our job to get a group of people to agree with us and carry out our vision. No matter how good that vision might be.My Beloved cleric brothers and sisters (members of the clergy), it’s our calling to help the church/ministry body discover or re-discover God’s purposes together, then participate in them as the Holy Spirit leads us all. So, if we want to build a platform, a project or a ministry based on our ideas, we need to start a para-church ministry or a for-profit business. Not use a church/ministry body to carry them out for us.My Beloved cleric brothers and sisters (members of the clergy) we need to stay focus or for some, need to get refocused on the church Jesus brought into existence and called us to lead. The focus should never be on the cleric brothers and sisters (members of the clergy), but on Jesus.*Not on the preaching, but the equipping.*Not on the presentation, but the discipline.*Not on the music, but the worship.*Not on the building, but the gathering.*Not on the platform, but the people.*Not on the packed (or vacant) seats, but on the empty cross.Have a blessed Monday and an Awesome rest of your week. -
“Veracity”

Praise the Lord Beloved!!!
Happy Monday to you.Isolation, Loneliness, Solitude. Beloved, these are three of the most common characteristics as pastors and church leaders encounter even though we’re surrounded by many people. Our position as shepherds, separated from the flock in many ways, can cause us to become closed off to much of the world.
You see, living a private life in secrecy or inaccessibility leaves room for self-betray and, eventually, to what I call a culpability breakdown.
So, to avert that breakdown, we need the openness that connecting with others provides. Recognizing our need for others means that we stay very alert of any predisposition to compromise. We also understand that we’re not invulnerable to a fall. We must be willing to be open and connect. So, we sustain genuine accountability as pastors.
Now young pastors or church/ministry leaders, I have a little advise for you,
“if “you want to sustain your veracity. Now, if you noticed, you’ll see your seasoned pastors or church/ministry leaders with only a few men with integrity. And the reason for this is because they can be themselves without any fall out. You see, for me personally It’s a common practice for me to choose people outside the scope of my work. As a ministry leader, I don’t choose too many pastors to hang out with. I try to connect with those who can evaluate my life with objective eyes and I choose people who aren’t in awe of my presence. I also seek the people who doesn’t have anything to gain or lose.
Second, you must be committed to absolute, deep down honesty. In other words, you have refuse to hide, excuse or deny. That’s because self-betrayal is a danger for all people, especially pastors, ministers and leaders.

I have found this within myself, that for some reason we as pastors or Sr. leaders feel that being an “example” means we never make mistakes, so we try to cover it up!!! I have found that in a leadership role you must be very attentive “cautious” against any half-truths, because the only ones we fool are ourselves.
And finally, be determined to answer diversified questions on a variety of practical topics to facilitate your openness. A lot of times I’m painfully specific such as:
*Have you been with a woman anywhere this past week that might be seen as negotiating?
*Have any of your financial dealings lacked honesty?
*Have you exposed yourself to any sexually explicit material?
*Have you spent adequate time in Bible study and prayer this week?
*Have you invested sufficient priority time to your family?
*Have you fulfilled the directives of your pastoral or ministerial, role?
*Have you just lied to me?LOL!!! And that last one is the clincher!!!
Beloved, unless you’re a practiced hypocrite, answering these questions in a small group of individuals will provide you the spiritual and moral anchorages you need to accomplish your God-given role as a pastor or ministry leader.
You see, when we intentionally engage ourselves with those who keep us honest, we safeguard our lives, our families, and our flocks from the backwash of the accountability breakdown. The pain of real accountability is nothing compared to the pain from a lack of veracity.
Have a blessed Week Everyone.
