Our spiritual topic this morning is called,”Unsympathetically Abolish Rushing” And this morning’s verse is Isaiah 26:3 (AMP).
This morning’s verse reads this this way:
“You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”
One day after reading Isaiah 26:3 and really meditating on it, I went into the kitchen where First Lady, Donece was preparing dinner and I said to her, “You know, nowhere in the Bible have I ever read that Jesus was in a hurry.” And, she looked at me with an astonished look and she said, “You know, I hadn’t ever given it much thought, but come to think of it me either.”
Beloved, in our world today, everything is about a rapid pace. Now don’t get me wrong here, there are many things that require speed-but not everything.
I retreated to my office because I certainly needed to think on this. That’s because I’m the worlds worse when it comes to rushing. I don’t like to spin my wheels nor waste time and energy. But, at times, especially since I’ve gotten older my rush output has gotten slower and I find myself spinning my wheels and expending more energy than I need to. 😀 But realistically at times, rushing ahead and not looking to God for guidance and help will cause us to become disoriented to what’s more important and what’s not. Spiritual rushing during times that are created for a slower pace will cause us to lose focus, become unbalanced, and become unsynchronized from the order of God thus losing our spiritual peace.
Beloved, we must unsympathetically abolish rushing. If you’ve discovered that you’re speeding in a spiritual zone or area that has been created for a spiritual slower pace, it’s time to get yourself reoriented back to the Lord and His wisdom. You know, until I got myself fully spiritually refocused I had to remind myself to trust in Him, rather than leaning on my own empathetic ways.
The “perfect peace” the prophet Isaiah speaks of is the opposite of rushing around anxiously. Beloved, the Lord gives this gift to (3) “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character],
Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. (4) “Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], For the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages] …
Beloved, trusting God with our minds fixed on Him is the antidote that will help us to definitely eliminate a fast-paced spiritual life. I don’t know where you are in your spiritual walk with the Lord, but today I pray that you’ll be able to put aside anything that is causing you to rush and miss the steps ordered by the Lord.
Beloved, trust the Lord!!! He’ll never fail you and He’ll give you His peace.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the peace that passes all understanding. This is an awesome gift, and I won’t take it granted.
