  • “Slow Down”

Q: Bishop Houston, I am in an economic crisis. I have prayed and prayed I have admitted where I went wrong, and I have corrected those areas, but I am still in financial trouble. What else can I do?

Thank you for your excellent question.

A: Many are feeling the economic crunch as we try to recover from the pandemic shut down. Recovering from a crisis of any kind isn’t always a quick fix or Jeanie in the bottle remedy. Prudence, insight, and knowledge is the answer. Understanding your predicament is the key to recovery. Proverbs 4:7 (AMP) says, “The beginning of wisdom is: Get [skillful and godly] wisdom [it is preeminent]! And with all your acquiring, get understanding [actively seek spiritual discernment, mature comprehension, and logical interpretation].”

I realize that sounds uncomplicated, but it’s shocking to see how many believers forget to do it when crises come. They get so overwhelmed most of the time they run to every source they feel will point them in the direction that seems correct to repair or resolve their problems.

Beloved, discovering how to slow down a little in certain circumstances, and start commending God for His brilliant work, His covenant of peace, and say no to the evil or crisis that’s trying to take that peace from You. You must stand on your faith and believe that God is with you during your emergency, and He’ll deliver you. Pray and ask God for His wisdom in your crisis. He’ll show you how to meditate and cleverly use your faith. No matter what or how baffling your problem may appear, you can pray with confidence, knowing God will answer it. James 1:5 (AMP) says, “If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him.”

Not long ago, First Lady Donece and I were facing a complicated situation. It came out of know where. We were perplexed because we didn’t see it coming. To be truthful, I immediately reacted by reciting every scripture and praying every way I could think. But the Holy Spirit stepped in and disconnected “my” actions – “Slow Down.” Now, there’s nothing wrong with affirming scriptures, and it’s beautiful to pray. But in the sudden emergence of the crisis, I missed the principle thing I needed. “WISDOM!!!” Beloved, I lacked wisdom. I needed to settle down and get an understanding and believe everything will be fine. I didn’t have to get so alarmed. All I had to do was pray in the Holy Ghost, and He showed me the perfect will of God. All I had to do is listen to God’s directions.

Today, I’m here to confess to you after several days had gone one morning as I woke God exposed His wisdom to me. I woke up understanding precisely what, who, and how the crisis occurred and HOW TO ADDRESS IT. As a result, First Lady and I have walked away from what meant to be a bad situation into victory – success.

Beloved, I hope my answer has helped you.
    Thank you for your question.

  • “Uniting During a Disaster”

    3 20 2020 Bishop Houston's Weekend Words John 15 5
The Coronavirus (Corvid – 19) has place panic and shock all over the world today. This type of disaster has sounded a countrywide alarm that people in the modern era are not familiar. Disasters can be daunting. In the fog of an emergency, it can be difficult to see anything, no matter the good things that God might be doing. During a disaster, job lay-offs may occur, money, investments, and other resources may start to dissolve, and relationships may dangerously threaten to collapse, or you may experience some other destructive event. It’s devastating to see your world transformed from being beneficial to pandemic status. Sooner Or Later, you start to question if God might be rebuking for something.

But in reality, we need disasters to balance our spiritual ecosystem. Often many people won’t try to connect with God until there’s a crisis in their life. When an emergency occurs in their life, many people try to find all kinds of ways to connect with Him in ways that they wouldn’t ordinarily think. Let some fake news get started; During this pandemic, the rumor mill on social media has been non-stop!!! For many people, fake news has been their god. Rumors such as how to know if you’ve contracted the virus. From holding your breath to drinking water. Or the origin of the virus and how about the confounding effect of a medical test for a cure. These are just a few in many that I received, heard on T.V. and read on different social media sites. Beloved, be careful of fake news; it will alter how you few yourself and re-route your spiritual values.

Beloved, life isn’t about you; it’s about God. A significant disaster induces our spiritual mentality. A crisis encourages us to go and discuss it with God. Matthew 11:28 (AMP) says: “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation].” Beloved, we can go to God with anything that burdens us. Is that so bad?

Understandably, suffering is painful. But Jesus’ point in John 15 is that the only way we can thrive in life is by being instinctively attached to Him, like branches to a vine. That means our lives will be far more affluent connected to Him in a disaster than if we’re wandering off on our own.

The pandemic is massive, but we serve a Mighty God that has the answer and the remedy to every crisis.

Beloved as we enter this Friday and step into the weekend, I want you to understand, the point isn’t that disasters aren’t unfortunate; it’s that staying connected to Jesus Christ is good. Sometimes God uses the blinding fog of a disaster to help us find Him. Amen? Aaamen. ✝️❤️😊

    Let Us Pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, we need You. You’re our source that has the resources to recover and move beyond this pandemic. Please connect us deeply to You. In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen and Aaamen. ✝️❤️

Have a Blessed Friday and a safe weekend, Everyone.
    ✝️❤️😊
  • “God Has a Better Way”

    11 22 2019 Bishop Houston's Weekend Words Psalm 35 22 23
Have you ever felt like David when he prayed this Psalm? I have and it’s not an easy position to be in? Sometimes it just appeared no one cared about what was going on in my life and that God was silent. If you’re in this position now, then allow me to bless you with a reality check. The reality is God isn’t being silent. He’s crying with you in moments of hardship.

He’s carrying you through them and has all the power essential to do so. You may not see it now, but when you do, you’ll be astonished at how God was working in your life. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (AMP) says: No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance]; but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].

Beloved, as we end this week and head into the weekend if you’re in a crisis or you’re at your weakest moment about an issue and you want God to rise and work something spectacular right then and there remember God has a better way, trust that He knows what He’s doing. Amen? Aaamen.

    Weekend Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, we understand that sometimes there’s going to be challenging moments, so please provide us the grace to accept that. We pray that You’ll speak to our hearts, help us, and show us Your way. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, I pray, Amen and Amen.

    I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
Have a blessed Friday and a tremendous weekend Everyone. 😀
