  • “My Foundation My Rock My Mother”

Me and my mommaProverbs 22:6- (MSG)
Point your kids in the right direction—
when they’re old they won’t be lost.

I love my Momma just because.
Just because she means so much to me.

I love you Momma because of everything you’ve done for me, the opportunities you’ve passed on to me, the uncountable mood swings you’ve suffered from me. You gave up your life so that I may have life.

I thank God for blessing me with such a tremendous mother. My love for you Momma supersedes birthdays, Mother Days or any Holiday. Flowers, cards, money or even taking you out to eat isn’t integrity enough to inflate my point to how much you mean to me.
None of those things will ever be able to exactly explain how much I love you. All of those things are so common. That’s because you’re my Momma 24 hours 7 days a week.

So today (not being any special day)
I am letting the world know what an awesome
Mother I have and why I respect and love you.

(A.) You’ve given up everything for me and still want to give me more.
I thank God for each Sunday I am able to hear your voice.
During our Sunday morning conversations you captivate me with your encouraging words, your laughter and your words of wisdom.

Many don’t know how much you’ve given up for me: your wants, desires and needs just to see a smile on my face.

You’ve given up your ambitions, dreams
and future plans just to give me a shot at them.
You’ve given me everything I didn’t just need, but anything I could ever want.

(B.) You’ve cared enough for me to get angry at me, but you have always forgiven me.
Today, I realize you hated being the bad guy.
I know you took on that role because it keeps the play going.

When the demons of worldly addictions held me captive, Momma you met the public head on with pride and dignity. When everyone counted me out and gave up on me, when the dust had settled from the feet of everyone fleeing, you were the only one standing there with a smile on your face and encouraging words saying:
“Wilburn Jr. Momma is here with you and
with God, all things are possible for those that love the Lord. So this too shall pass.”

There are many that have hated you, talked about you and ridiculed you, but you have stayed the course with your head up, humble heart your eyes on God and willing to help anyone (friend or foe) when asked.
That’s the kind of inspiration that has made an impact on my life and has kept me moving forward.

(C.) You have supported my every move (as long as it was morally correct) no matter how bold it was. I could have my head-in-the-clouds, be obsessive and spontaneous, but you knew how to keep me grounded without crushing my dreams. You knew what’s possible and what’s going to hurt me yet you still managed to assuage my whimsical ambitions.

You supported me no matter what, even if that meant standing by while I make a mistake.

(D.) You characteristically believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.
You had more faith in my failures than I had in myself. You watched me tear myself apart, sabotage every opportunity and still thought of me as a success.

You picked me up from every hole I put myself in and dusted me off without looking at the mess I’d made.

(E.) You were there when all my other relationships had fallen apart.
Momma you’re my rock with a comfortable blanket on top. You’ve always been there for me, standing strong, yet providing comfort and wisdom. Even through my insurrections you were always there to defend me.

You didn’t hold my bad attitudes against me
or take yours out on me — you just understood.

(F.) You’ve been a true friend. Through all the uncountable relationships I thought would be the one, you’ve stood silently in the background, ready to accept me again with open arms.

Through every bad friendship, bad breakup,  and worse enemy, you’ve been there. You’re the one friend I can count on, even when at times I’ve treated you like the enemy.

(G.) You let me be my most vulnerable self.
After hours, days and weeks of putting on a brave face, you let me take it off. There’s no show with you, no performance, no acting.

You don’t just let me be my true self, you expect me to be my true self. You’re like a needed breath of fresh air after swimming for hours in fecal matter.

(H.) You’re the only person who genuinely wants me to talk about myself all the time.

Momma you’re the most selfless person in the world dealing with the most selfish. You don’t just let me vent; you center every conversation on me.
Your days are centered on how my days are, and your worries are weighed on mine.
When I’m in town and we go out to eat you don’t talk about yourself you want to hear about my life.

You’re the only person who doesn’t just listen to me all the time, but wants to make it about me all the time.

(I.) You try to see where I’m coming from, even when you disagree with me.
You’re the only person who takes it from both sides, hoping the other side wins. You may not agree with everything I do, but you try your best to understand why I do them.

    You aren’t judgmental; you’re careful.
    You aren’t biased; you’re wise.
You aren’t out to get me; you’re out to help me.

(J.) Momma you’re my foundation my rock.
That’s why I love you just because.

    Love your oldest son,
Bishop, Dr. W. F. Houston, Jr. (Th. D.)

    I love my momma

  • “Look Up To God”

    Look up to God
    “Order My Steps Dear Lord”

  • “God Is Our Caretaker”

Bishop Houstons good morning picBeloved Psalm 121:3 says:
“He who keeps you will not slumber”.

Beloved, on yesterday I spoke briefly about God being our protector.
But you know David’s song in Psalm 121 also portrays the Lord as our keeper.

Beloved, our Caretaker needs no sleep. He’s always alert and attentive to our cries,
even when our feelings tell us otherwise. He preserves us physically and spiritually, He restrains us from wrong thoughts, harmful words, and inappropriate actions. His Holy Spirit gives warnings to keep us from evil, and He also provides guidance so we’ll grow in a godly direction.

Beloved God is sovereign. He’s with us always-protecting, pointing the way, and teaching.
He accompanies and leads even in the small tasks that seem insignificant.
God is our keeper, and He cares for us better than any earthly mom or dad ever could.

May your day be blessed in the Lord. 😀

  • “It’s Ok To Have Big Visions”

It's Ok to have big Visions
    Bishop Houston’s “Expression for Today”

    Beloved,
when you look out into your future, what do you see? What are your visions and desires that you hold close to your heart? So many people start with big visions, but then opposition comes. Life doesn’t turn out the way they planned. They lose a loved one or encounter difficulty they didn’t anticipate.

Today, if that’s you, I want to remind you that it’s Ok to have big visions. The Creator of the universe designed you with specific gifts and talents that no one else has. He has you on this planet for a specific purpose. When you commit your life to Him, He promises to be with you wherever you go. Even though some things in life may have caught you by surprise, they didn’t catch God by surprise. His good plan for your life remains. You can trust Him because He loves you with an everlasting love, and He doesn’t want to see you settling for anything less than His very best.

    Beloved,
today I want to encourage you to let go of what no longer has a purpose in your life,
let go of what has been holding you back or holding you down.
Let go of what has been keeping you from having big Visions.
Put aside the past and lift up your eyes to Jesus.

    Beloved,
it’s OK to think big and have big visions. Be audacious, be resilient and be determined.
God’s the Author and Finisher of your faith.
Live confident and have a big vision so you can embrace the good things He has in store for you!!!

Have a blessed day everyone. 😀
