ζῆλος (zēlos) — Greek

Definition: A fervent, boiling passion oriented toward the good. Zēlos names a holy intensity—a desire purified by love and ordered by wisdom. Zeal for God is not unbridled heat, but disciplined fire that fuels faithful action, courageous witness, and enduring hope.

✍️ Beloved, years ago, I found myself off-camera in the hushed stillness before dawn. I had come at the end of a difficult week of ministry, and I was spent. But there I sat, before a black screen and an open Bible—no audience, no deadline, no need to perform—only the Word of God, a simple prayer, and a whisper in my spirit, “Yes, Lord.” And somewhere between the depths of surrender and the Scripture on my lap, the dying embers in my heart were stoked to flame once more. Upon standing, I found myself transformed into a new person who felt lighter and more courageous as I burned with intense love.🤔

🌈 Friends, a “Soul on Fire” is not a noisy hype—its holy heat. The Word ignites, worship enlarges, and works of love translate flame into light for others. 

Three dampeners to guard against:
• Sin that smothers (unconfessed patterns).
• Cynicism that chills (suspicion replacing faith).
• Busyness that buries (activity without intimacy).

Three igniters to practice:
• Scripture first—feed the flame (Jer 20:9’s pattern).
• Worship daily—fan the flame.
• Service gladly—carry the flame.
